1주의 말씀 : 지금은 어느 때인가?

In What Period Are We Now?

The principle of heaven and earth lies in the dynamic of giving birth to life in spring and bringing death in autumn. You cannot do anything about the principle of heaven and earth.

Spring insists upon life, and autumn insists upon death. ①Spring gives life in order for autumn to bring death, and autumn brings death in order for spring to give life.

②We have lived in the world of the Early Heaven—64,800 years of spring and summer. The coming world will be the period of autumn and winter, spanning another 64,800 years. We are approaching the world of autumn and winter. ③The world of autumn and winter will be one of a mature culture.

Now is the time of the summer-autumn transition. There will be a mature culture in which politics, economics, culture, religion, society, and many more such elements will be brought together into one. It will be an integrative culture of living for all people. The world will be united as one family under one government.

지금은 어느 때인가?

천지의 대도라 하는 것은 춘생추살, 봄에는 물건 내고 가을철에는 열매 맺고서 죽여 버린다. 천지 이법이라는 건 아무런 방법이 없다.

봄이라 하는 것은 물건을 내는 정사만 하고, 가을철이라 하는 것은 죽이는 정사만 한다. 봄철에 내는 것은 가을철에 가서 죽이기 위해서다. 그리고 죽이는 것은 새 봄을 준비해서 내기 위해서다.

지금까지는 선천이라는 세상을 살았다. 6만4천8백 년 봄여름 세상을 살았다. 앞으로 다가오는 세상은 6만4천8백 년 가을겨울 세상을 맞이한다. 가을겨울 세상은 열매기 문화가 된다.

때는 바야흐로 하추교역기다. 정치, 종교, 경제, 문화, 사회 각색 문화가 하나인 이념 속에서 다 뭉쳐져서 열매기 문화가 열린다. 앞으로는 정치도 세계 통일 정권이라는 하나의 이념권이 창출이 된다.

Speaking Exercise

① in order for ~ to ~ : ~가 ~하도록 하기 위해
(in order to+동사원형은 “~하기 위해서”라는 뜻입니다. in order를 빼고 to만 써도 같은 뜻이죠. to+동사원형 앞에 for+목적격을 쓰면 to부정사의 의미상의 주어 역할을 합니다.)

봄철에 내는 것은 가을철에 가서 죽이기 위해서다.
Spring gives life in order for autumn to bring death.

자손이 하나라도 살아남아야 그 조상신들도 산다.
At least one descendant must survive in order for their ancestors to survive.

건강한 마음을 갖기 위해서는 항상 긍정적인 자세를 가져야 한다.
In order for you to have a healthy mind, you need to always have a positive attitude.

② have + 과거분사 : (과거부터 지금까지) ~ 해 왔다
(한글에는 없는 시제인 현재완료는 과거부터 현재까지 있었던 일을 나타냅니다. have been+p.p.는 “(과거부터 지금까지) 계속 ~되어 오고 있다”는 과거완료수동태이고, have been+~ing은 “(과거부터 지금까지) 계속 ~해 오고 있다”는 과거완료진행형입니다.)

지금까지는 선천 세상을 살아왔다.
We have lived in the world of the Early Heaven.

상극의 이치가 인간 사물을 맡아 왔다.
All human affairs have been dominated by the principle of mutual conflict and domination.

우주가 상제님이 이 세상에 오시기를 기다려 왔다.
The universe has been awaiting Sangjenim's advent into the world.

③ one : (앞에서 말한) 그것/그 사람
(여기서 one은 대명사로, 앞에 이미 언급했거나 상대방이 알고 있는 사람·사물을 가리킬 때 명사의 반복을 피하기 위해 쓰입니다.)

가을겨울 세상은 열매기 문화가 된다.
The world of autumn and winter will be one of a mature culture.

사람이란 크고 작고 간에 틀이 있나니 큰 틀이 되어야 한다.
All people have a capacity either great or small―be one of great capacity.

2주의 말씀 : 시조할아버지의 유전인자를 물려받은 내 몸

Our Ancestors Within Our Bodies

Within an earth year, life arises in spring, ①what sprouts in spring grows in summer, and in autumn, the essence of life is gathered to enable fruition. All life bears fruit and perishes in autumn.

After a grass seed has fallen to the ground, it sprouts in spring, grows in summer, recovers its original form in autumn, and dies by the chill of autumn. Then the next year, a new sprout emerges to pass on the genes to the next generation. In this way, a lineage spans ten, one hundred, one thousand, or tens of thousands of years. ②No life form transcends the bounds of this principle.

Likewise, there exists a cosmic year. Within a cosmic year, the universe cultivates humanity.

Our founding ancestors from seven, eight thousand years ago passed their genes down to their children, their children to their children, all the way to us today. You carry the genes of your first ancestors.

At the time of the Autumn Gaebyeok the seeds of various human lineages are culled. If our ancestors fail to harvest good descendants, ③all their efforts will have been in vain.

시조할아버지의 유전인자를 물려받은 내 몸

일 년 지구년에는 봄철에 싹이 터서 여름 내 키워서 가을철에 가서 그 진액을 전부 뽑아 모아서 열매를 맺는다. 가을에는 열매를 맺어 놓고 죽여 버린다.

이름도 없는 풀씨도 떨어지면 봄에 새싹이 터서 여름철에 크고 가을철에는 제 모습을 찾고서 상설霜雪기운에 의해 죽어 넘어간다. 그러고는 다음 해에 다시 또 제 모습, 제 유전인자를 전하기 위해 또 새싹을 낸다. 그렇게 해서 10년도, 100년도, 천 년, 만 년도 계계승승 이어간다. 만유의 생명이라 하는 것은 그 법칙을 떠날 수가 없다.

그것과 같이 우주년이라는 게 있다. 우주년은 사람농사를 짓는다.

오랜 옛날 7~8천 년 전 처음 시조할아버지의 유전자가 대대손손 나에게 전해져 내려왔다. 다시 얘기해서 내 몸은 처음 시조할아버지의 유전인자다.

이번 가을개벽에는 각 혈통의 사람 씨종자를 추린다. 쓸 자손을 못 살려낼 것 같으면 조상도 헛농사 짓는 것이다.

(what은 선행사를 포함하는 관계대명사로, “~것”으로 해석합니다. 문장 속에서 what 이하는 명사역할을 합니다.)

봄에 싹튼 것은 여름철에 자란다.

봄여름에 자란 것은 가을철에 추수된다.
What grows in spring and summer is harvested in autumn.

먼저 할 일과 나중 할 일을 알라.

② no + 명사 : 아무~도 ~않다
(No+단수주어 뒤에는 단수동사가, No+복수주어 뒤에는 복수동사가 옵니다.)

만유의 생명은 그 법칙을 벗어나지 않는다.
No life form transcends the bounds of this principle.

자기 자의대로 살아본 사람은 한 명도 없다.
No one has ever lived their life at will.

태을주보다 좋은 주문은 없다.
No mantra is better than the Taeeulju Mantra.


③ will have + 과거분사 : (미래의 어떤 시점에) ~ 해 왔을 것이다
(미래완료 시제는 미래의 어느 일정한 때를 기준으로 하여 그 이전부터 그때까지의 결과, 완료, 경험, 계속을 나타냅니다.)

조상들이 가을개벽기에 쓸 자손을 추수를 못하면 헛농사 짓는 것이다.
If our ancestors fail to harvest good descendants at the time of Autumn Gaebyeok, all their efforts will have been in vain.

그 때가 되면 상황이 위급해질 것이다.
By that time, the situation will have become desperate.

3주의 말씀 :오직 자손만을 생각하는 조상

Ancestral Spirits Truly Care About Their Descendants

Let us address the most important point first: who are the important Spirits for each familial community? They are the spiritual ancestors of each family. ①The ancestral spirits are not unlike gods to the descendants, with there also being Sangjenim, the Master of them all. I am not expressing some personal opinion, and ②even if it were not part of Jeung San Do’s message, I would still proclaim this truth, as a devotee of Truth. Who are the paramount Spirits for all of humanity? For all people, their own ancestors are the Ones.

The ancestral spirits from many generations “accompany” each of us. ②Ancestral spirits, even if their descendant is a thief, a burglar, or a murderer, always follow their descendant to protect and preserve them. ③However bad the descendant’s deeds, the ancestors want to get them out of trouble. Thus, ancestral spirits are intimately tied to the life and death of their descendants. You must know this. Your ancestors are your paramount Spirits.

오직 자손만을 생각하는 조상

결론부터 얘기하면 다 각자의 천성만본 수많은 혈통 각자의 하나님이 누구냐 하면 자기 조상이 다 각자 자기 하나님이다. 옥황상제 그 하나님보다 제1의 하나님이 누구냐 하면 각자의 자기 혈통의 시조할아버지, 묶어서 자기 조상이 자기 하나님이다. 내가 사담을 하는 게 아니다. 이건 증산도 교리를 떠나서 진리의 사도로서 진리를 평하는 얘기다. 전 인류의 하나님이 누구냐? 다 각기 제 조상, 제 조상이 제 하나님이다.

우리들 다 각자에게는 백 대, 백 대 조상신들이 언제고 붙어 있다. 조상신은 자기 자손이 도둑질을 하든지, 강도질을 하든지, 살인을 하든지, 살인을 허든지 언제고 쫓아다니면서 보살펴 주려고 한다. 어떠한 범죄를 했어도 조상신만은 제 자손이니까 그걸 그 사지에서 빼내려고 한다. 조상신명이 그 자손하고 죽어도 같이 죽는다. 진리를 알고 살아야 한다. 제 조상이 제 하나님이다.

Speaking Exercise

① not unlike ~ : ~ 와 같다(다르지 않다)
(unlike는 “같지 않은” “다른” 이라는 뜻의 형용사로, not unlike는 다르지 않다는 뜻입니다.)

조상신은 자손에게 하느님과 같다.
The ancestral spirits are not unlike gods to the descendants.

명상을 하면 깊은 잠을 잘 때와 같은 의식 경계가 된다.
When meditating, you attain a state of consciousness not unlike deep sleep.

② even if + 주어 + 동사 : 설령 ~ 일지라도
(even if는 “비록 ~일지라도”라는 뜻의 접속사로 부사절을 이끕니다. even을 붙이면 if를 강조해서 도저히 일어나지 않을 것 같은 일을 가정하는 것입니다. Even if + 주어 다음에 현재동사를 쓰면 현재나 미래에 대한 단순 가정을 나타내는 “가정법 현재”가 되고, 과거동사를 쓰면 현재 사실, 상황에 반대되는 상황을 이야기하는 “가정법 과거”가 됩니다.)

증산도 교리가 아닐지라도 나는 이 진리를 선포할 것이다.
Even if it were not part of Jeung San Do’s message, I would still proclaim this truth.

조상은 자손이 살인자일지라도 그 자손을 항상 보호해준다.
Even if their descendant is a murderer, ancestral spirits always protect their descendant.

③ However + 형용사 + 주어 + 동사 : ~가 아무리 ~ 해도
(관계대명사+ever가 문장 앞에서 부사절을 이끌 때 “~하더라도”라고 해석합니다. however, whenever, wherever 등도 쓸 수 있습니다. 예: Give me a call whenever possible. 언제든 가능할 때 전화 줘. / Don't forget your home wherever far away you go. 아무리 멀리 가더라도 고향을 잊지 마세요.)

자손이 어떠한 나쁜 짓을 했어도 조상신은 사지에서 빼내려고 한다.
However bad the descendant’s deeds, the ancestors want to get

얼마나 나쁘더라도 자손들의 행동이 (뒤에 may be 생략)
them out of trouble.

아무리 힘들어 보여도, 나는 그만두지 않을 거야.
However hard it seems, I won't quit.

4주의 말씀 : 때를 알아야 한다

Be Aware of the Tides of Time

People must live in concord with natural principles. In fact, ①those who live in concord with the principle of heaven and earth flourish, while those contravene the principle of heaven and earth suffer ruin.
The principle of heaven and earth, or nature’s order, cannot be pulled, pushed, or halted. Possessing billions of dollars is worthless; owning everything on earth would be futile. The principle of nature cannot be challenged by any means.

You must understand heavenly time, just as humans understand the rhythm of the changing seasons—sowing plants in spring, cultivating them in summer, and harvesting them in autumn. ②Now is the age when the seasons of heaven and earth are changing. ③Those ignorant of this have no choice but perish. There is only one time for bearing fruit: autumn. If you do not survive this era, all of your ancestors from the many past generations will meet the same destiny: they all will die with you.

때를 알아야 한다

사람은 순리대로 살아야 된다. “순천자順天者는 흥興하고 역천자逆天者는 망亡이라”, 천지 이치에 순응해서 사는 사람은 잘되고, 천지 이치를 거스르는 사람은 망하는 수밖에 없다.

천지 이법, 자연 질서라 하는 것은 잡아당기지도 못하고, 밀지도 못하고, 멈추게 하지도 못하는 것이다. 돈이 억만 금이 있어도 소용없고, 지구에 있는 것이 다 제 것이어도 소용이 없다. 무엇으로써도 자연 이법에 도전을 할 수는 없는 것이다.

천지에서 일 년에 농사를 짓는데 그 철을 맞춰서 사람이 봄 되면 씨 뿌리고, 여름 되면 매 가꾸고, 가을 되면 천지에서 알캥이 맺어 주면 사람이 거둬들인다. 그것과 같이 지금은 천시를 알아야 된다. 지금은 천지의 철이 바뀌는 때다! 이것을 모르면 죽는 수밖에 달리 아무런 방법이 없다. 열매기는 가을철에 가서 한 번 여물면 그만이다. 이번에 살아남지 못하면 자기 조상 백 대, 2백 대 조상신도 다 같이 넘어간다.

(대명사 those가 관계대명사 who가 이끄는 관계절 등의 수식을 받으면 ‘~하는 사람들’이란 뜻을 나타낼 수 있습니다.)

천지 이치에 순응해서 사는 사람은 잘된다.
Those who live in concord with the principle of heaven and earth flourish.

나를 믿는 자는 영원한 복을 누릴 것이다.
Those who follow Me shall gain eternal bliss.

천지 이치를 거스르는 사람은 망한다.

② Now is the age/time/era when 주어 + 동사 : 지금은 ~가 ~ 하는 때다
(관계부사 when은 앞에 ‘시간 개념 명사(day, year, morning, age 등)을 꾸며주는 형용사절을 이끕니다. 이때 when은 생략도 가능합니다.)

지금은 천지의 계절이 바뀌는 때다.
Now is the age when the seasons of heaven and earth are changing.

지금은 인간과 신명이 해원하는 시대다.
Now is the age when people and spirits resolve their bitterness and grief and fulfill all wishes.

지금은 천지가 목적을 완성하는 때다.
Now is the age when heaven and earth achieve their purpose.

③ have no choice but + (to) + 동사원형 : ~하지 않을 수 없다
(but에는 “~외에”, “~밖에”라는 뜻이 있습니다. 따라서 but 이하 외에는 다른 선택이 없다는 뜻이 됩니다.)

이것을 모르면 죽는 수밖에 아무런 방법이 없다.
Those ignorant of this have no choice but perish.

마음이 어디 가자고 하면 몸뚱이는 끌려가는 수밖에 없다.
If the mind says to go somewhere, the body has no choice but to obey.
