Sangjenim’s Incarnation *Dojeon 1:10

1 In answer to the earnest pleas and prayers of the spirits of sages, buddhas, and bodhisattvas in heaven, 2 Sangjenim incarnated into the Eastern land, where a new era was to dawn, to deliver humans and spirits, who have been trapped in torment, by bringing to pass a new heaven and earth.

3 In the Hour of the Rat on September 19, the Year of the White Sheep (Year Sin-mi, DG 1, 1871), the eighth year of the reign of King Gojong, the 4204th year of the Year of Dangun, the 5768th year since the founding of Baedal, the 9068th year since the founding of Hwanguk, 4 Sangjenim incarnated into the world in Gaengmang-ri Village of Udeok-myeon Township in Gobu County, Jeolla-do Province.

At the time of the summer-autumn transition, when the cosmic summer gives way to the cosmic autumn, Okhwang-Sangje must inevitably, positively, absolutely, incarnate into this world. This destiny has been infallibly preordained. This is an absolute principle—even if heaven changes, this principle will not change.

우리 증산도에서는 상제님이 탄강하신 해, 그러니까 상제님께서 신미년(1871년)에 세상에 오셨는데, 바로 그 시기부터 인간 역사에 우주의 가을 기운이 들어왔다, 그렇게 봅니다. 천지인(天地人) 삼계 우주를 다스리는 상제님이 인간의 몸을 가지고, 인간 역사에 들어오신 그 시점부터 천지의 가을철이 시작된 거예요. -종도사님
Sangjenim incarnated into the world in 1871, and in Jeung San Do, we explain that this event marked the entry of the energy of cosmic autumn into human history. That is, Sangjenim—Ruler of the Three Realms, those of heaven, earth, and humanity—descended upon this world as a human being, and at the moment He entered human history, the cosmic autumn actually began.

2주의 말씀 : 상씨름

The Sangssireum(Ultimate Match) Shall End the Established Orde *Dojeon 5:6

1 One day, Sangjenim declared, “The tides of the world shall be as those of a ssireum tournament. After the children’s match and youths’ match, the tournament shall be brought to an end with the sangssireum.”

2 Sangjenim drew on a sheet of paper a stroke like the center curve of the Taegeuk symbol and explained, “This is a three-eight line. 3 I shall place the center ring of the ssireum tournament on Joseon’s thirty-eighth parallel, and it is there that I shall launch the sangssireum of the world. 4 I shall found the Court of Judgment for All Nations in Joseon. When the ox enters the ssireum center ring, the tournament shall be brought to an end.”

상씨름으로 판을 마치리라

1 하루는 상제님께서 말씀하시기를 “현하 대세가 씨름판과 같으니 애기판과 총각판이 지난 뒤에 상씨름으로 판을 마치리라.” 하시고
2 종이에 태극 형상의 선을 그리시며 “이것이 삼팔선이니라.” 하시니라.
3 또 말씀하시기를 “씨름판대는 조선의 삼팔선에 두고 세계 상씨름판을 붙이리라.
4 만국재판소를 조선에 두노니 씨름판에 소가 나가면 판을 걷게 되리라.

Sangjenim predestined through His work of ssireum that world affairs would unfold with the children’s match, the youths’ match, and the sangssireum. (...) Both the children’s match and the youths’ match have come to an end, and now the sangssireum between the two Koreas is underway. Both South and North Korea are standing face to face. Even now, two immortals are contesting a match, two immortals are giving advice, and one is the host.

상씨름에는 병겁 도수, 병란病亂 도수가 붙어 있다. 다시 말해서 남북 상씨름의 대결 구조는 궁극으로 종결을 짓지만, 그것이 단순히 인사 차원으로 매듭지어지는 게 아니라는 말입니다. 남북 상씨름의 대전쟁이 넘어가는 대변혁의 상황과 거반 동시적으로 병겁이 들어옵니다. 이것이 마지막 개벽 상황(괴질 병겁)으로 들어가는 하나의 대사건입니다. -종도사님
Sangssireum(“ultimate match”) is entwined with the emergence of a disease: the mysterious disease. In other words, the confrontation between the two Koreas will be concluded, but the whole situation will be settled not just on the level of human affairs. The cosmic transition of the Autumn Gaebyeok will trigger the ‘determination of the ultimate match,’ which will lead in turn to the mysterious disease, the last gaebyeok event.

Think Only of the Multitudes *Dojeon 8:66

1 “Do not lead a prodigal life of wine and lust; instead, follow your true nature and preserve a true mind. 2 Your deeds are like the stars in the night sky: when they finally become visible, all the world can see them with utter clarity. 3 People wish riches and renown for their descendants, but I urge you to refrain from doing so. 4 Abandon such selfish desires and think only of the multitudes, for our work is the work of bringing prosperity to all the world’s people. 5 All your brothers and sisters face calamity, so how can you not strive to save them? All people throughout the four seas are your kin.”

오직 창생을 생각하라

1 주색으로 방탕히 지내지 말고 본성대로 행하며 마음을 잘 지키라.
2 사람이 하는 일은 밤하늘의 별과 같아서 세상에 알려질 때에는 여실히 드러나느니라.
3 사람들은 제 자손만 잘되어 부귀하기를 바라나 너희는 부디 그러지 말라.
4 우리 일은 천하창생이 함께 잘되자는 일이니 사욕을 버리고 오직 창생을 생각하라.
5 형제가 환란이 있는데 어찌 구하지 않을 수 있으랴. 사해(四海) 내에는 다 형제니라.

“장차 천지에서 십리에 사람 하나 볼 듯 말 듯하게 다 죽일 때에도 종자는 있어야 하지 않겠느냐.” 하는 말씀은, 사람을 많이 살리라는 상제님의 절규絶叫다. 상제님이 그렇게 참 가슴아픈 절규를 하셨는데, 상제님을 신앙하는 신도들로서 그걸 저버리고 저 혼자만 산다는 건 있을 수 없는 일 아닌가. -태상종도사님
Sangjenim said, “At the coming of the time, heaven and earth shall strike down all but one person in ten ri, but should not some seeds of humanity be saved?” This is Sangjenim’s declaration that we must save many lives. Sangjenim’s lamentation is heart-wrenching. It would be unacceptable if you, as practitioners of His teachings, forget His words and seek only self-preservation.

여름에서 가을로 천지질서의 변화와 함께 지구에 재앙이 닥치고 온갖 문제들이 터져 나오지만, 그런 가운데 천지의 뜻을 이루기 위해 증산도 진리를 열심히 전하고 많은 사람을 살리는 일에 매진하는 사람만이 진정한 성공을 거둘 수 있습니다. 바로 그것이 이 시대를 살고 있는 인간이 스스로 주인이 되어 해내야 할 일입니다. -종도사님
In the midst of the innumerable disasters and mountains of problems that will come upon us, those who dedicate themselves to the work of spreading Jeung San Do’s teachings and of saving many people will attain a genuine achievement. This is the very thing that humans living in this era should accomplish as masters of their own destiny.

Go Forth into the World to Carry Out the Work of Heaven and Earth *Dojeon 5:255

1 Sangjenim one day declared to the disciples, “The work of heaven and earth cannot be accomplished with writings alone—you must also go forth into the world.”
2 He also declared, “It is I who devise; it is you who shall accomplish.”
3 The greatest practice is the practice with the mouth.

천하사는 직접 뛰어다녀야 한다

1 하루는 상제님께서 말씀하시기를 “천하사는 글만 가지고 안 되나니 직접 뛰어다녀야 하느니라.” 하시니라.
2 또 말씀하시기를 "모사(謀事)는 내가 하리니 성사(成事)는 너희들이 하라." 하시고
3 “공부는 입 공부가 가장 크니라.” 하시니라.

You should fully awaken to the fact that now is the time of the great gaebyeok when the climax of summer is about to end and autumn is to begin. The success and failure of Sangjenim’s work depends on whether or not our ilkkun, standing with dauntless faith in the center of history, toil with heaven and earth to spread the teachings and transmit the revelation of the coming autumn culture to the world.

상제님 문화는 그냥 문화가 아니라 개벽문화다. 기존의 것을 완전히 바꿔놓는 문화다. 죽는 세상에 전 인류를 살려서 새 세상을 만드는, 신천지를 만드는 문화다. 상제님이 그렇게 되도록 모사를 하셨다. 꼭 그렇게 되도록! 그리고 그것을 인사(人事)로 성사시키는 것은, 상제님의 일꾼들에게 맡겨 놓으셨다. -태상종도사님
Sangjenim’s culture is not simply another culture, but rather the ‘gaebyeok culture,’ or the ‘culture of renewal.’ It is the culture that shall completely transform everything. It is the culture that will deliver humanity from annihilation and create a new world—the new heaven and earth. Sangjenim ‘devised’ this culture, which shall bring this new world to pass. Will most certainly bring it to pass! To ‘accomplish’ this through human undertakings, Sangjenim entrusted the work to His ilkkun.
